I will be jumping a bit in time and post about this one thing I both hated and enjoyed doing.
Shredding up some of my costumes to make space.
Bowser have been laying on top of my closet for about 2 years and only taken space.
I needed to do something about it, and not by sending this huge thing back home to my mum´s place XD hahaha
This gave me the oppurtunity to open up my old creation and see what I´ve been using to assemble it, as I could recall myself stuffing this one with a lot of different materials.
You can call it at… backwards progress line as I have tried to take as many images as possible while carving this up like a Hunter from Monster Hunter X)
pulled off some of the spikes to reveal the fabrics true color hue. As you can see… This have gotten dusty over the years XD
yeah…
The chestplate. This was basicly foam glued on to a cotton sweater and covered with fleece fabric. Classy!
Bowser coming out of his shell! A pillow and some scrap fabrics inside to make the shape. wow… I don´t remember this, or these colors since I made Skullkid and Zidane :O
Scrap foam inside the while ring around Bowsers shell. ewww, forgot that foam turns yellow after some time.
The entire backshell carved and ready for the garbage bin.
Foam inside the chest plate. I carved the «muscles» into the foam and pushed the fabric in while gluing with a gluegun.
Carving done so far. Now for the lower part.
And here is the lower part!! TA-DA! Best packing ever XD
The legs were pretty much boots I´ve made which I covered with the trouser part. These were actually quite comfy to walk around in : )
This is the insides of the trousers. Pretty much a jeans, with glued-on foam parts to make a more monster-ish feature on my legs.
the legs after carving the fabric off
And now we will go for the head! I really regret how I made this. It could have been SO much more human friendly than this XD
The horns were originally from a prop viking helmet which can be bought from funny stores.
hair, underjaw and horns removed and this just looks really nasty D:
More fleece removed.
This is the back of the «foam shell» which I start with before covering it with more foam bits and shaping. Making it like a bucket over your head.
Here is the inside of this monster. I dunno how I survived in this during Desucon 2010
NOW THIS IS JUST TERRIBLE!!
Here is the entire head spread out. *shudder*
So this is the carving progress of Bowser I buildt during 2009-2010
and won the second prize at Desucon 2010.
A remake of my first costume I made in 1998 which got burned by an accident
while cleaning out our basement XD
I hope you enjoyed reading and looking at images : )
I will warn everyone that this post contains a bit spoilers.
If you haven´t played the game yet, but is planning to and don´t want to know about storyline, what the game contains etc, then BUY the game and finish it! recommended!
We all know Mario from Nintendo.
The jolly good italian plumber who saves Princess Peach/toadstool all the time
and makes his brother Luigi lick his shadow while giving Bowser a hard time getting his plans working.
Nintendo just released the newest game, Super Mario 3D land.
I didn´t pre-order this game. As I had so many games to play and school to tend do
I didn´t have in mind spending my money on a new mario game at the moment.
Later tho,I would anyway.
But my friends managed to make me trade in my Rayman 3Ds game for this at the local Game store.
And I can honestly say, I don´t regret that.
I have been a Nintendo kid for as long as I can remember, But had noticed Nintendo games was a bit scares on the quality at times.
A bit worried about the new title, I started the 3DS and turned on the game.
After all, this was supposed to be like a awesome mix between new times Mario and Mario Bros 3, right?
The Tanookie suit is making its comeback alongside with…not the hammerbro suit, but Boomerangbro costume.
I can say so far after finishing the first part of the storyline, not counting in the second play-through
I´m quite impressed.
The game in general was a bit simple compared to other titles released, but I think myself that this is a game
that people can play, take a break from and go back to again and also gaming it without giving up in rage.
This game caused me to rage… I think… just two times. Mostly my own fault. But that is what games is a bit about.
The skill curve was really good in this one. Starting easy and progressing to the harder part. It did a good job!
Also NOT having a tutorial really made the experience SO much better!
The tutorial is already actually in the start demo. If you wait long enough at the title screen, you will get a optical illusion
and commands to play around with. Both to learn you how to controll and use the 3D.
The 3D in this game is not forcing you to use it.
It gives symbols in the start of certain levels where it is «recommended,» but you can choose not to use it.
I use it both. So when my eyes get a bit tired, I just turn it off and it looks nice then as well.
The music in the game is really cozy. Old remade tracks and some new really makes the levels set their mood.
Ghost house, forests, water world… I really enjoyed just listening to the tracks while gaming.
My favourite parts in the game must be the old-school illustrated cards you find to see how the princess is doing.
So funny with the function that if you shake or move your 3DS in any directions, the figures on those cards will move!
I have been shaking my 3DS like mad while playing!
It´s a short game, that I can say, but it depends on how much time you invest in it.
And I get the impressions as the old Mario games were. Exept now you can save and not loose progress like in Mario brothers 3.
I finished the first part in 77 minutes I think, but then I got the cool thing, if you collect 100 Star coins. Something will happen.
Hmmm… I dunno really what to say more about this game so far…
This is just my first impression so far and I will finish the game before I dare to give it a rating.
So I will for now go back to Skyrim and try to get through the storyline there 🙂
But I can say that I recommend this Mario game. It´s fun, badass and cute!
Especially a perfect Xmas gift for kids and the general Mario/Nintendo fan.
So Check it out! Chill out! and I will write to you later 😀
Dragonborn Dragonborn
by his honour is sworn
to keep evil forever at bay
and the fiercest foes rout
when they hear triumph’s shout
Dragonborn for your blessing we pray
and the scrolls have fortold
of black wings in the cold
that when brothers wage war come unfurled
Alduin bane of kings
ancient shadow unbound
with a hunger to swallow the world
Yes… I´m lost in the world of Skyrim…
Seriously.
So lost that all that I got on my mind is killing off dragons, finding treasures, riding a heavy-looking horse and
play good and bad between sides of the different kinds of impires.
Hiding in Whiterun, butching Sven trying to get his rival in love poisoned and dragon priests.
I can dig this so much.
I will not for this time give any rating on the game until I´m done with at least more than I am now.
I have only killed 5 dragons at this time and is searching for the Greybeards. That is not too far, really.
I just want to openly talk about my first impressions so far. Share ideas, ways of skills and secrets.
I remember when I saw someone play Morrowind when it was popular around the interwebz and learned about the awesome stuff you could do!
Making piles of sheep and blast them miles away with magic spells! roam over large areas and be your own master for actions or go under the imperials/rebels.
I had ofc no computer then that would be able to play a game like that…
BUT!
Then, later years… Oblivion showed up in the shelfs.
I tried it out, but got fairly dissapointed.
I got it for PS3, so I kind of get why it was not so fun as I had imagined.
On a computer, games like that is easier to MOD, thus makes a game funnier, longlasting and worth the time.
On the concole it didn´t quite work out too well.
I gave it a bit up, but got faster into fallout 3 when it got released.
A great system, funny quests, a lot of freeroam, no bunches of guards who always would shout after you:
«Stop right there criminal scum!»
or worse
Stop! You’ve violated the law! Pay the court a fine or serve you’re sentence.
I think these moments with the guards(glitching at times)was the funniest moments to find in the game.
But still I had my hopes up for a new Elder scrolls game *oooo see what I did thar!*
And my prayers were heard!
Skyrim!
The game with Morrowind, Oblivion and fallout elements pushed into one game!
The game of kings!
The game…
ACK! NO! *pushes game jokes away*
back on track *erhm cough*
Skyrim is sure a nice piece of art on the game front.
Sure I would say the BEST on the market right now, but then again…
The year ain´t over yet and there is planty of games to see as well.
But I will say the best in its genre for now.
It´s long, it´s challenging, it´s enchanting and pure awesome.
Thanks IGN for the wonderful image gallery! People! More pics from the game over there *points to IGN*
As a full-blood Norwegian. being raised in a Fjord, near a glacier… I felt like home in Skyrim.
Northeren lights/Aurora borealis, starry nights and snow being reflected of the moon… Makes me miss home a little because of this.
But the game have then made its impact on me. I personally can enjoy this game because of the enviorments and the feeling of survival.
This is from the fjord I lived in before I moved to Stavanger.
The mountains we used to tell what time on the day it was if we didn´t have a watch.
So yeah, prtty much. If you are from a area with the elements as Skyrim and you have moved away from it for a long time. Your heart will feel
a little sense of longing for it.
Skyrim itself is a huge game as well. Many different types of skills and perks!
a lot of different ways to go.
So hopefully I will get to test out more of this while I´m still into the game.
(which I prolly will be for the next year and so) X)
More about the game, I really cannot express in words and I recommend for those who haven´t gotten it yet,
if getting the chance for it, try it out. it is worth it. Tho it will take a tiny bit of putting yourself into it
to make a character with some special about them. But that is not impossible.
Everyone have perhaps seen Harry Partridge song about Skyrim and I belive this was the most posted
movie on my facebook wall during the release of skyrim 11.11.11.
I congratulate him for making this funny animation and getting it spread like
fire in a barn in a forest made out of tar.
I have appreaciated this aniamtion since it came out and now it just sounds more
epic to actually sing it and dive into skyrim. Good bye world! See you in a year!
… I mean it… See you guys! Going back into Skyrim!
uhm, yeah… bet I should perhaps give the folks behind Skyrim a great applaud for
making this come true. It is a splendid game, a bit glitchy, but forgiveable and understandable
and bet this will be in our concoles/PCs for a long time forward.
Also I hope there will be DLC/MODS for PS3, XBOX and PC to make it even longer.
As fallout did. I liked that too!
And now my teacher wants to toss me out of the classroom, cause the day is over.
So I will see you later, have fun! and remember!
Praise the Dovahkiin!

Aaaaand even another post not with Uppcon.
(sorry, need to get my photos off my camera and organize some info)
But when I got back home from Sweden, we decided to take a random gaming evening at our movie-night host, Tom Erik.
We had in mind to get Mortal Kombat 9, but our minds just changed completely direction when we saw….
THIS in the shelfs!
I think we all Nerdgasmed a little before we got our own copies in our hands.
Me getting it for PS3 while Tom for his PC.
For me, Duke Nukem will forever be the MAN! *see what I did thar?*
So getting sucked into childhood memories and just see Duke in his wonderful glory was just the thing I needed.
I bet there is many out there that have grown away from this humor/style, but I think I´m still the child inside to laugh hard
of his jokes, trivias and wonderful punch-lines.
I will go medievil on your ass!
12 years of waiting, and it finally arrived.
In my opinion, I really love that the new company that took over for 3Drealms after their breakdown kept the humor in it.
Duke will never be anything without his gum.
and somehow I really think the detail of Dukes movements and jumping is hilarious! glad they kept that in as well!
The plot is easy to follow, Aliens stealing women, Duke go apeshit on them and the rest is just plain heaven!
Driving a Monstertruck up the hills, crushing everything and everyone in it´s way is just a satisfaction to watch.
Another detail I really think was a good idea keeping in, is the movie that goes on if you let the title screen be for a while.
Showing moments from the earlier games in a wonderful style!
I almost cheered loudly when I saw…
THIS again!
So overall.
For me, this seems like a tribute to the fans of Duke Nukem who still loves the serie as they managed
to keep the style so pure to the original and even having trivias to both other games and companies, like 3Drealms on a frisbee.
I will humbly accept the honour of gaming through this game, and finish it with a impression of a hard-cooked manly man, doing his thing for humanity
against Aliens, saving our women.
I salute you, man! I salute you!
So to the new company, taking over and finished this neverending project, I thank thee for giving us such happy news and even a great result.
I like it, ALOT!
So Duke fans.
«I will rip off your head and shit down your neck»
And always remember having some gum around 😉
